Typescript of Emmannuel's Vestry Minutes
1765 to 1802

This typescript is reportedly a direct transcription by typewriter of Chester Parish records now located by the vestry in the Hall of Records, the Maryland State Archives in Annapolis.  The "original" damaged, stained, and tom typescript of the records was purchased by Mrs. Anne Craft Leadbetter from a Chestertown area estate sale (because she recognized the value of it) and was given to Arthur D. Leiby, diocesan archivist sometime in the early 1990s. Mr. Leiby had three (3) photocopied sets of the typescript made.  The "original" (after hard binding) was given back to Emmanuel Church, Chester Parish, Chestertown.  The "first copy" (after hard binding) was put in the Diocesan Archives in Easton.  The "second copy" (after hard binding was given to Christ Church, IU Parish, at Worton in recognition of the commonality of the historical records of Chester and IU Parishes.  The "third set" (left unbound in 2014) is Mr. Leiby's.    Ron Abler scanned Mr. Leiby's unbound copy and converted it to a PDF file in 2015.  Read it below.
