The Eccleston Family contributed this chancel triptych (three windows) as a memorial to their father, Judge John B. Eccleston.
According to former rector, Fr. Greg Straub: “Before the apse was added Emmanuel would have had tablets in the wall engraved with the 10 Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer and the Apostles’ Creed. (This was a requirement of English canon law. They are not uncommon even today on the Eastern Shore; viz. St Luke’s, Church Hill; Wye Church; Trinity, Church Creek.) When the wall containing the tablets was removed to build the apse, the stained glass window of Moses holding the tablets continued the theme in a different medium. All three bottom panels contain Eucharistic references, appropriate to their position above the altar.”
